History of Tithi of Damodardev
Born in 1488, Sri Damodardev was a famous 16th-century religious preacher in the Ekasarana tradition of Vaishnavism.
Vaishnavism is one of the major Hindu denominations. It is notable for its avatar doctrine, wherein Vishnu is revered in one of many distinct incarnations.
Ekasarana Dharma became popular in Assam under the influence of the great saint-scholar, Srimanta Sankardeva. Sri Damodardev was a contemporary and friend of Sankardeva.
Sri Damodardev established several Satras, institutional centres associated with the Ekasarana tradition - the most famous being the Patbaushi Damodar Dev Satra.
