Monday October 2nd 2023
President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, has designated Monday October 2nd 2023 as a temporary holiday to extend the upcoming Chuseok holiday to a six-day break.
"Oct. 2 will be designated as a temporary public holiday," Yoon said in a meeting on the economy and people's livelihood at the presidential office, calling to boost domestic tourism and lower prices ahead of Chuseok.
This year's three-day Chuseok holiday lasts from Thursday September 28th, to Saturday September 30th. October 2nd is a Monday, followed by the National Foundation Day on Tuesday October 3rd.
By designating October 2nd as a temporary holiday, people will be able to enjoy an uninterrupted six-day break from September 28th to October 3rd.
In the run-up to the decision, the People Power Party (PPP) asked the government to make Oct. 2 a temporary holiday to help stimulate the domestic economy.
