The Federal Government has declared Monday May 29th 2023, as a public holiday for all workers in the country to commemorate the inauguration of the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Interior, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, this was made known by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Bola Tinubu, president-elect, and Kashim Shettima, vice president-elect, will be sworn in on May 29th and begin a new administration.
The Minister congratulated all Nigerians on “the momentous occasion, commending them for their faith in democracy as expressed in the nationwide election that produced the President and his Deputy being inaugurated and indeed in all elections across the nation.”
He urged Nigerians to continue to support and promote democracy through adherence to the rule of law.
2019
A public holiday has been declared for the Presidential inauguration of Muhammadu Buhari for a second term on May 29th 2019
Announcing the activities for May 29th and June 12th 2019, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohamed, said that both days would be marked as a public holiday this year.
