When is Thanksgiving Day in Bayelsa?
Thanksgiving Day is a regional work-free day in the Nigerian state of Bayelsa on November 2nd each year.
This is to enable workers in the public and private sectors to actively take part in the state’s annual Thanksgiving service.
About Thanksgiving Day
The Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Day Law was signed in 2012 by former governor Seriake Dickson, now a Senator representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly.
A public holiday is declared following the law guiding the special day to hold the annual thanksgiving day celebration every November 2nd.
The annual thanksgiving was among the religious policies of the state introduced by the Dickson administration which also includes a monthly praise night and daily morning devotion at the official residence of the governor inside the Government House, Yenagoa.
