The Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ismail Bakar said Tuesday July 30th, had been declared an additional public holiday for the nation under Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951 for Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan.
Ismail added that the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak, could take action based on their state laws.
Due to illness, Muhammad V became the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong to step down from the throne. He left on January 6th 2019 while his term should have ended on December 12th 2021.
