Even though Public Holidays in Ireland are usually called bank Holidays, there are also days when the banks are closed, which are not Public Holidays.
For instance, if St. Patrick's Day falls on a weekend, the following Monday is not automatically a Public Holiday, but banks will remain closed.
Good Friday
Good Friday is not a public holiday. While some schools and businesses close on that day, you have no automatic entitlement to time off work on that day.
Christmas bank Holiday
The bank holiday at Christmas will depend on what day of the week Christmas Day falls on, but will typically extend the bank closing period after the Public Holidays.
