January 5th 2025
Under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued an order declaring Sunday, January 5th 2025, a public holiday for ministries, authorities, and government institutions.
This is in support of Bahrain’s national football team as they compete in the Gulf Cup (Khaleeji Zain 26) final, held in the State of Kuwait, against the team of the Sultanate of Oman.
The royal directive reflects His Majesty’s commitment to supporting sports and athletes, as well as His Royal Highness’s dedication to fostering national unity and encouraging Bahraini citizens to stand united behind the team during this landmark sporting event.
The decision accommodates fans attending the historic match in Kuwait. It accounts for logistical challenges faced by them as they will not be able to return from Kuwait before the start of official work hours.
December 19th 2019
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa has declared Monday December 9th 2019 as a public holiday where Ministries, government departments and public establishments will remain closed, marking the historic achievement of Bahrain National Team, which won the 24th Gulf Football Cup.
Bahrain beat Saudi Arabia 1-0 to lift their first-ever regional title at the Arabian Gulf Cup in Qatar.
Bahrain, who last reached the final in 2004, were finally able to claim the cup after four previous final attempts.
Along with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain were late entrants into the draw, after they reversed their decision to boycott the tournament over a two-year-old diplomatic dispute with the hosts, Qatar.
