President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has declared Friday 25th October 2019, SADC Anti-Sanctions Day as an official public holiday to show the importance of the day to the economic emancipation and well being of the country.

Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a day of solidarity against sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the United States. 

Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development Minister Professor Amon Murwira told journalists at a post Cabinet media briefing that October 25th will be declared an official public holiday.

"To further amplify the importance of this day to the economic emancipation and well-being of Zimbabwe, Friday 25 October 2019 shall be declared an official public holiday," said Murwira.

The government has declared October 25th, a public holiday, apart from examination writing classes, as it pushes for greater participation in what has been dubbed the anti-sanctions march.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration announced after Cabinet Monday that the move to declare the day a holiday is aimed at amplifying activities around the day.
