When is Basque Country Constiution Day?

This is a regional public holiday in the Basque Country region of Spain to mark the 80th anniversary of the anniversary of the first Basque government in Guernica in 1935.

In 2016, this holiday replaces the Day of the Basque Country (Basque: 'Euskadi Eguna') which has been celebrated as a regional holiday on 25 October each year since 2011.

Until 2011, the Basque Country had been the only region in Spain not to have a specific regional holiday. Part of the reason is that it has been difficult to find consensus on what date is the best representation for the Basque Country.

For instance, some Basque nationalists consider a day called 'Aberri Eguna', that honours a founding father of the Basque nationalist movement, as the preferred national day, but since this day always falls on Easter Sunday there is little point adding it as a holiday on its own.
