Johor has declared Sunday August 25th 2024  an occasional public holiday to enable its people to cheer for the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football club in the FA Cup final match.

This is as JDT will face Selangor FC in the 2024 FA Cup 2024 final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday August 24th.

Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said, as a gesture of appreciation, the state government, with the consent of the Regent of Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, has declared Aug 25th an occasional holiday for the state.

"This public holiday honours the passionate support of JDT's 12th player — the loyal fans who have been integral to JDT's journey," he said in a Facebook posting today.

December 17th 2023

The Johor government has declared Sunday December 17th 2023 as a special holiday to celebrate Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) excellent performance in the Malaysia Super League.

Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar decreed this following JDT's clinching of the Malaysia Super League for the tenth consecutive time.

"To celebrate JDT's historic achievement, an event will be held at 8.30pm on Saturday (Dec 16) at Stadium Sultan Ibrahim after a match against Penang FC.

"As such, Johor Sultan has decreed that Sunday (Dec 17) is a special holiday for all Johoreans," he said in a statement.

November 28th 2022

State Secretary Tan Sri Azmi Rohani announced that Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has decreed that Nov 27 be declared a public holiday in the state.

"The public holiday was announced following the success of Johor Darul Ta'zim entering the final of the Malaysia Cup which will be held on Saturday, Nov 26.

"This will enable supporters who want to watch the final to plan their travel so they would not be hasty and be safe," Azmi said in a statement.

October 16th 2022

Sunday October 16th 2022 has been declared a public holiday for Johor after the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football team won the Malaysian Super League for the ninth consecutive time.

The state football team Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) secured its Super League title with a 3-0 victory over Sabah FC on Saturday October 15th. JDT had also won 10 trophies in other championships this year.

Johor state secretariat Azmi Rohani said Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar decreed the public holiday not only to celebrate JDT winning the Super League but also for winning 10 trophies in other championships this year.

The declaration of the state public holiday is in line with Section 9(1) of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369).

September 11th 2022

Sunday September 11th 2022 will be a special holiday for Johor to celebrate the Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football team winning the Malaysia FA Cup 2022.

Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar decreed this, says state secretary Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani, adding that the declaration of the holiday was in line with the provision of powers conferred under Section 9(1) of the Public Holidays Act.

"As per the Sultan Ibrahim's decree, the state government has decided to make Sunday, Sept 11 as a special holiday for the whole of Johor to celebrate JDT winning the Malaysia FA Cup.

"The special holiday was to celebrate and show appreciation to all JDT's fans who have given their fullest support to the team to make the state proud," he said in a statement here on Saturday (Sept 10) night.
