Presidential Inauguration Day 2021
The Ministre de la Fonction Publique et du Travail of the government of Guinea Conakry, Mamadou Ballo, has announced that Guinean interim President Colonel Mamady Doumbouya had declared the day of his oath-taking, Friday October 1st 2021, as a public holiday in Guinea Conakry.
Doumbouya led a coup d'état on 5 September 2021 that overthrew the previous president, Alpha Condé.
The aforementioned announcement that Friday October 1st 2021, would be a public holiday, thus amends the list of 2021 non-working public holidays (jours chômés et payés) in the Republic of Guinea Conakry, as announced by its government, at the beginning of this year.Presidential Inauguration Day 2020
Guinea will observe a public holiday on Tuesday December 15th 2020 for the inauguration ceremony for President Alpha Conde's third term. The event will take place at the Palace of Mohammed V (formerly the Palace of Nations).
Electoral authorities in Guinea declared Conde winner with 59.49% of the vote, defeating his main rival Cellou Diallo in the October 18th election.
Opposition candidate Diallo received 33.50% of the vote, the electoral commission said. Voter turnout was almost 80%.
Conde became Guinea’s first democratically elected leader in 2010 and won re-election in 2015.
