The Cambodian government has announced a one-day public holiday on Monday August 5th 2024 to mark the official inauguration of the Funan Techo Canal. The announcement came in a circular issued by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The Funan Techo Canal will be a 180 km long canal, connecting Phnom Penh Autonomous Port with Kep and the Gulf of Thailand.
The Funan Techo Canal is a major infrastructure project aimed at improving water management, transportation, and economic development in the region. The canal’s construction represents a significant step forward in Cambodia’s efforts to modernise its infrastructure and enhance its agricultural capabilities.
The Prime Minister’s circular highlighted the importance of the Funan Techo Canal, describing it as a project that will bring substantial benefits to the Cambodian people.
