  • A major Christian celebration, Epiphany is celebrated on January 6th and commemorates the presentation of the infant Jesus to the Magi, or three wise men. In some countries, it may be known as Three Kings Day.


  • In 1727, Pope Benedict XIII declared Our Lady of Sorrows to be respected by the Church and its members as a Patron of Slovakia and later in 1966 was declared by Pope Paul VI as the main Patron.


  • Christmas Eve is a beloved Slovak holiday, a day for the exchange of presents and when families can spend quality time together. They enjoy a supper that consists of soup, mostly prepared from a cabbage, and fish with potato salad as the main course.


  • December 26th is the Feast of St. Stephen in Western Christianity. It is observed as a second day of Christmas holidays in several countries.
